M4 East Ground Water Treatment Plant Update

Construction is underway on the WestConnex M4 East permanent Ground Water Treatment Plant. Following the successful construction and operation of 3 temporary plants for the WestConnex New M5, CRS were awarded the contract to construct a permanent WTP in October, 2017 for the new M4 East tunnel. The water treatment plant will have capacity to treat 1.8 million litres of water a day from sources of stormwater, groundwater ingress and tunnel wash down water. Treatment processes will include Chemical Dosing, Clarification, Media Filtration and Sludge Dewatering to purify the contaminated water and allow for environmentally friendly discharge into local waterways.
