CRS’ Ground Water Treatment Plants have successfully removed solids from over 750 million litres of ground water from the WestConnex New M5 tunneling works creating over 2,250 tonnes of dry solids.
CRS completed the construction of 3 temporary ground water treatment plants for the WestConnex sites at the start of 2017.
Sludge is produced in the plants via a Lamella Plate design Clarifier. The sludge is then transferred across to a storage tank, before being dewatered using a Belt Filter Press. Two sites utilise 1m wide Belt Filter Presses with the other utilising a 1.5m wide Belt Filter Press. The entire dewatering process is completely automated.
